How AreYouThankful.com Came About
The idea came to me this November 17th weekend.
Thoughts of Thanksgiving. My children playing around me. Missing my wife as she was at a weekend retreat - feeling a little helpless.
It dawned on me that I take my most precious treasures - my family, my health, my journey - often times for granted.
This video is the path less traveled for me. It's not about web marketing. It's not about creating a personal family video.
It's one for you.
And for me, as a reminder to remember and reflect. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it. My prayer is this video will help you (and all of us) reflect on what really matters and how fortunate we really are.
What are you thankful for? I would love to hear your thoughts & feedback by clicking the Comments link below. Thank you.

Wade Tonkin @ 1:10 pm:
This is awesome man.
I think it's important that we all take a step back from time to time to reflect on what God has provided for us. In most cases, it's pretty outlandish compared to what many people around the world (and sadly even in the US and Canada) have.
It's also time to think about how we can pass on the blessings that we have been given to others and really look to give something back and share that love.
I'm going to remember to give thanks for my family and friends, and for the sacrifice God made to save deeply flawed people like me.
God Bless,
Wade Tonkin

"And I thank you for this moment"
I can't think of a better way to give yourself and others you love - the perfect day.
The best and most memorial days in my life happen when I am thankful for the day - and thankful for the moment.
Many people around the world are met by unthinkable challenges - At the very least make a difference were you can.
And every day you make contact with someone just think… "How can I help and how will I be remembered?"
Really give it some thought - you make an impression for the moment - and in some cases a life time.
Recently I received the worst - and the best phone call in my life … "ever!"
About 1am in the morning I received a phone call that my younger brother was dead. This was about three hours after they didn't know if they should call an ambulance - I live across the country so I couldn't just rush over…
At that instant nothing seems real …"just numb" - Ten minutes into the call my wife is calling a family member to see what hospital he was taken to - or if he made it to a hospital.
It was then - I was handed the other phone. It was my brother!
In my left hand was the worst phone call in my life - and in my right hand was the best phone call in my life.
Nothing in the world could have made me happier. Nothing could come close to that gift.
In most cases in life we will never receive that second phone call. I thank God everyday for that second call and for the people I love in my life.
Thank you for sharing this video Sherman. Well done!
I thank God every day for this wonderful life

WOW, a BIG THANKS!

I'm so thankful you asked me to marry you and even more thankful I said yes…lol. I'm thankful for our children and I'm thankful for God's love.
Thank you for being an amazing husband and father and
for always putting us first.

But I sure am the luckiest man alive! XOXO
Diyana Alcheva @ 4:29 pm:
Thank you, Sherman! That is an inspiring video, touching my soul.
It is true that a lot of our time on earth we take for granted. We live in a time of so much abundance, more than ever before. We have more opportunities, resources and luxuries around us than any other time on earth and we still find things that we can complain about.
Your video is a reminder that there is much more to life than external and material satisfaction. It is much bigger and it is all around us.
I am so very thankful, that I am alive and I can experience life in its entire fullness, with its happy and its sad moments. I am happy for having the friends that I have the memories I have. I am thankful for the genius of humanity, and the musical and scripted masterpieces of others that I can listen to and read to inspire me.
I am thankful to your video for reminding me of some of my childhood hopes and that they are being fulfilled.
May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Sherman Hu, AreYouThankful.com @ 4:35 pm:

Dear Sherman,
I've been offline for sometime now with computer woes. I am checking email on a borrowed one tonight and caught your video.
It's been a month of passings, my dad, among others. Your video is a present tense reminder that there is still good in every life today and in every life well lived. And, sadness, though it tempers one's outlook, will not always be overwhelming.
Thanks to you and for you in your work and in your love and care for your family.
Gloria Cox @ 9:59 pm:
It's AWESOME Sherman … thanks for sharing! Just what I needed to be reminded of today … jeeping things in perspective is one of my greatest struggles! I am always thankful for a reminder …
We are thankful to have such great friends as you & sarah!!!
Love you guys!
Sherman Hu, AreYouThankful.com @ 11:04 pm:
Hi Janet, I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's passing, amongst others. I'm glad that this video could be a small source of inspiration. I just experienced the passing of a very dear old friend in his 80s, and your sharing reminded me of my recent experience, which leads me to reflect once again on the fragility of life. Thanks Janet, I appreciate you.
Sherman Hu, AreYouThankful.com @ 11:08 pm:
Hey Gloria, thanks for checking it out
Appreciate you and Ray too! Love you both

Melanie Langenhan @ 2:41 am:
Hi Sherman,
thanks a lot for sharing that video with the world. It's music reminds me of "Why worry" by The Dire Straits which I used for a video about my brother's life six weeks ago. My brother passed away on September 29, only 42 years old, and I am thankful for the time we had together, for being his sister, for my mother, my husband, my friends and for every day and the experiences it brings.
I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Cheers, Melanie
Cassandra Stipanicev @ 5:48 am:
Hi Sherman,
What a lovely reminder to say thanks for all the things in our lives. Our lives are very full, and so often we do take, especially the small things for granted. I have the remarkable opportunity to have some time right now and I get to notice the beauty in the smallest things.
I am so grateful for my family and also for the amazing others in my life. Life is full of incredible people and opportunities, sometimes you just need to be open to seeing them. Thank you for this lovely inspiration. May you have a wonderful thanksgiving.
Cassandra
Sherman Hu, AreYouThankful.com @ 10:28 am:

Great video. Simple and well made. I didn't know you are a web marketer but hopefully we can chat about it as I am interested in it. Otherwise I enjoyed it and hope it blesses others like it has blessed me.

Aislinn O'Connor @ 2:46 pm:
As I'm at the other side of the Atlantic I'm downloading the video rather than waiting for it to buffer, and it's going to take a good while yet before I can actually watch it, but after all these great comments I can tell you that I'm really looking forward to it.
We don't have Thanksgiving here, which I think is a great pity, as it's a wonderful opportunity to take some time to appreciate the things we often take for granted. I hope you won't mind letting me be an honorary American for today, so that I can join in!
This year, I have a special reason for giving thanks. Just over a week ago I had what I can only describe as a miraculous escape from what would almost certainly have been a fatal car wreck.
I say that it's miraculous because there's no way that I would have the strength to stop the car (I was standing behind it at the time) from rolling backwards into oncoming traffic, and running me over in the process… but as I pushed with all my might and prayed aloud, the car stood still, just inches from the traffic.
In the circumstances, I feel very thankful indeed to be alive.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family, and all your readers.

I am thankful that love exists in the world.
This video has been shared as a guest video to all my subscribers around the world as a message that the most powerful secret of success remains simple gratitude and a positive attitude.
Happy Thanksgiving!
David Bullock @ 7:15 pm:
Happy Thanksgiving. Every now and again. We have to have someone to remind us that life is made up of little things and loved ones.
Thanks Sherman. And God Bless.

Hi Sherman,
I am a subscriber of yours and appreciate the ethical and
thoroughly professional way you operate online.
This fantastic video makes me thankful for my beutiful wife and my incredible and wonderful 3 and 5 yearolds.
My learning curve online is still in it's infancy but one day in the future I hope to attend events in the US and shake your hand.
You connect with people in a very emotionally intelligent way and I kinda feel like I know you already.
All the best Sherman
